About The Position

We are currently accepting resumes for part-time Skate Patrol. This position will be responsible for ensuring facility policies, procedures and regulations are maintained during public skates at various recreations facilities, ensuring the safety and well-being of patrons. Guided by the goals and objectives of the City of Guelph Corporate Strategic Plan and committed to the Corporate Values of integrity, service, inclusion, wellness and learning, the candidate will aid in the achievement of the Community Vision for an inclusive, connected, prosperous city.

Requirements

Strong skating skills and knowledge of safe on ice practices.
Strong verbal skills to resolve and address any on ice issues.
Ability to stand/skate for extended periods of time in a cold environment.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, customer service and organizational skills.
Standard First Aid with CPR C.
A satisfactory Police Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Check is required at time of offer.
Ability to provide own skates and helmet.
Must be minimum 16 years of age.

Responsibilities

Ensuring facility policies, procedures and regulations are maintained during public skates at various recreation facilities.
Ensuring the safety and well-being of patrons.
Skating proficiency and knowledge of safe on-ice practices.
Effective verbal communication and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to address and respond to on-ice situations in a professional manner.
Ability to work in a cold environment and remain active, standing and/or skating for extended periods.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification.
A satisfactory Police Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check, is required as a condition of employment.
Ability to provide and maintain personal skating equipment, including skates and a CSA-approved helmet.
Must be at least 16 years of age.
