About The Position

The skate guards are responsible for maintaining order and enforcing rules on the ice. The skate guard has frequent contact with the public. Skate guards usually work in groups of at least two. Occasionally, during limited crowds, guards may work alone.

Requirements

  • Minimum degree of skating proficiency
  • Knowledge of facility rules
  • Knowledge of First Aid and CPR
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
  • Ability to use good judgment in the absence of supervision
  • Ability to follow and give directions
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Time management and organization skills
  • Ability to make judgments with respect to the confidentiality of information and problem solving
  • Good safety awareness and judgment

Nice To Haves

  • Ice skating experience preferred
  • Communication Skills
  • Knowledge of facility operations and rules is desired
  • Customer focus and relationship building
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining order and enforcing rules on the ice
  • Rule enforcement
  • Clear patrons from ice prior to resurfacing
  • Interact with patrons
  • Assist in cleaning of patron areas
  • Assist in handing out rental skates
  • Announce information during intermission
  • To react well during emergency situations
