About The Position
Geotab is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to provide escalated engineering support and timely responses to service disruptions affecting core software applications such as MyGeotab. The role focuses on maintaining production servers, restoring and maintaining normal service operations, and supporting high availability and service-level objectives. The engineer will work closely with development teams and colleagues across the organization in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- 1–3 years of experience in Server Operations, DevOps, SRE, or a similar role.
- Post-secondary diploma or degree specializing in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and a systematic approach to problem-solving.
- Experience with PowerShell, Python, SQL, and Linux-based systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical solutions effectively and engage across organizational levels.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and respond to changing priorities under pressure.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and technical competence in Google Suite.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, flat organization.
Responsibilities
- Provide escalated engineering support and help restore normal service operations during disruptions.
- Communicate technical solutions to customers during service disruptions.
- Troubleshoot production issues and coordinate with development teams to implement fixes.
- Collaborate with team members to improve engineering tools and monitoring dashboards for computing architecture.
- Implement automation tools and frameworks to streamline routine tasks.
- Conduct system tests for security, performance, and reliability.
- Assist with long-term strategic planning to ensure server capacity meets current and future requirements.
- Recommend design enhancements that improve reliability, security, and processes.
- Maintain supporting documentation for areas of expertise.
- Proactively monitor servers using a combination of tools to ensure high availability and strong SLAs.
- Plan and execute routine maintenance tasks.
- Conduct post-incident reviews and identify improvements for long-term reliability.
- Participate in a 24x7 rotating on-call schedule.
