Etsy•Brooklyn, NY

About The Position

Etsy’s Runtime Site Reliability Engineering team is hiring a Site Reliability Engineer to build and support reliable, large-scale infrastructure. The team owns business-critical infrastructure and services that help developers build and deliver code and support the uptime of etsy.com and its mobile apps. The role supports developers in using the infrastructure the team builds and manages, while taking ownership of systems and ensuring their reliability, scalability, and maintainability. The SRE team builds and supports infrastructure responsible for the availability and reliability of Etsy’s core services, with a goal of 99.95% uptime. The role involves collaborating with SRE colleagues to shape how Etsy builds, deploys, and maintains infrastructure that can scale automatically. The team encourages continuous improvement across systems, including those outside an individual’s direct ownership. This is a full-time role reporting to the Engineering Manager, Runtime SRE. Candidates must be based in the United States. Etsy prioritizes candidates within commuting distance of its Brooklyn Office Hub; those candidates are expected to attend the office once or twice per week depending on proximity. Remote candidates outside commuting distance may be considered case by case, with occasional office travel expected. The base salary depends on location, skills, and experience. The listed annual salary ranges are $138,000–$186,000 for Geo-1 (New York City metropolitan area, San Francisco Bay Area, and Seattle metropolitan area) and $124,000–$168,000 for Geo-2 (all other U.S. locations). In addition to salary, the role is eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and benefits that support employees and their families.

  • Continuous-improvement mindset and willingness to improve systems and existing codebases.
  • Empathy, clear communication, and technical acumen.
  • Ability and enthusiasm to work collaboratively and contribute to continuous improvement for the team and company.
