About the position
As an SRE (Site Reliability Engineer) at Eurowings Digital, your mission is to ensure the smooth operation of user-facing services, such as the Eurowings booking platform, by maintaining the underlying infrastructure and ensuring systems and tools are functioning properly. You will play a key role in creating scalable and adaptable environments through the application of engineering principles and automation. Additionally, you will collaborate with software engineering teams to optimize reliability, scalability, and performance. This role requires technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle incidents and troubleshoot complex issues.
Responsibilities
- Improve the reliability, stability, and efficiency of systems
- Develop automation tools for system health, availability, capacity, and performance
- Debug intricate production issues across multiple levels of the stack
- Collaborate with software engineering teams to influence design for reliability, scalability, and performance
- Perform on-call duty as part of a team maintaining the reliability and uptime of systems
- Participate in incident retrospectives to drive improvements to prevent reoccurrences
- Represent technical viewpoints to diverse audiences and make prudent and timely technical risk decisions
- Communicate effectively and influence in a cross-functional role
- Handle multiple on-call shifts and navigate incidents through the retrospective process
- Demonstrate resilience, organization, reliability, and resourcefulness in problem-solving
- Possess excellent troubleshooting skills and a deep understanding of network protocols and database operations
- Have experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
- Work in a Site Reliability Engineering role or similar software engineering role
- Have strong knowledge of programming languages such as Python or Java
- Understand containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
- Be familiar with monitoring tools and systems
- Have experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation
Requirements
- Experience representing technical viewpoints to diverse audiences and making prudent and timely technical risk decisions
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills in a cross-functional role
- Handling multiple on-call shifts and navigating incidents through the retrospective process
- Resilient, organized, reliable, and resourceful in problem-solving
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and a deep understanding of network protocols and database operations

- Experience in a Site Reliability Engineering role or similar software engineering role
- Strong knowledge of programming languages such as Python or Java
- Understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
- Familiarity with monitoring tools and systems
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
