Sit-Down Forklift Operator
About The Position
Operates powered industrial trucks to load and unload finished product during shipping and receiving. The role supports order picking, receiving, putaway, and checking and packing activities in a warehouse. Operators assemble customer orders, move received products to designated locations, and prepare products and boxes for shipment while following operating and safety procedures and maintaining an organized work area. The listed shifts are Monday through Friday, 2:30 p.m.–11:00 p.m. (2nd shift) or 7:00 p.m.–3:30 a.m. (3rd shift). Equipment includes sit-down forklifts, stand-up/reach forklifts, and order picker/cherry picker forklifts.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of previous distribution or warehouse experience.
- A minimum of six months to 1 year of sit-down forklift, reach truck, and order picker (OP) experience.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Good record-keeping skills.
- Good listening skills.
- Accurate measurement capability.
- Ability to understand and speak English.
- Ability to work in a safe, conscientious manner.
- Dal-Tile certification to operate powered industrial trucks.
Responsibilities
- Operate powered industrial trucks to assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets.
- Enter orders into the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Verify stock availability and audit orders for accuracy.
- Move picked orders to packing stations or shipping areas.
- Operate powered industrial trucks to receive products and prepare them for stocking.
- Open crates and inspect products.
- Apply product labels according to established procedures.
- Verify product shading and place products in the correct warehouse locations.
- Move received products to pre-designated warehouse areas using powered industrial equipment.
- Enter product locations into the inventory control system and place products onto shelves.
- Ensure products are placed in the correct locations.
- Check, wrap, and pack products by hand into shipping boxes.
- Label boxes with packing slips and load them onto a conveyor belt.
- Verify orders for accuracy.
- Monitor equipment or processes and report problems to a supervisor.
- Follow standard operating and safety procedures.
- Keep the work area safe, clean, and organized.
- Perform other related duties as required.
