Simulation Specialist I
About The Position
The Simulation Specialist I creates Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) simulation scenarios based on engineering procedures and 3D models. The role supports tender and project hazard identification and clash checks during modeling reviews. It involves preparing assets for VMAX Simulation, validating scenarios against procedures and engineering drawings, testing scenarios on an ROV pilot simulator, documenting and archiving scenario designs, and assisting with multi-region sharing of VMAX scenarios and assets. Other simulation, modeling, and graphical tasks may also be required.
Requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge of the offshore/subsea industry, particularly installation and pre-commissioning of pipelines, flexibles, umbilicals, and subsea structures.
- Knowledge of offshore installation techniques and equipment.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, 3DS Max, and Inventor.
- Strong object-oriented software design skills.
- High-level debugging skills.
- Strong understanding of rigid body dynamics.
- Ability to interpret and convey design information to engineers and developers.
- Familiarity with Lua code.
- Ability to manage deadlines, adapt to change, and thrive in fast-paced, customer-focused environments.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in 3D digital arts or a similar field.
- Proactive engagement with Quality and HSES initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Develop ROV simulation scenarios using Lua and the VMAX Simulation Package.
- Prepare 3D model assets for VMAX Simulation.
- Ensure scenarios accurately reflect procedures and engineering drawings.
- Verify that models use the latest revisions, dimensions, and scale.
- Ensure collision geometries and physics are implemented correctly.
- Thoroughly test scenarios on the 12 LCD Screen ROV Pilot Simulator before deployment.
- Learn to operate the ROV simulator for testing and demonstrations.
- Issue video captures based on simulation findings.
- Document scenario designs fully and archive assets for future use.
- Perform other simulation, modeling, and graphical tasks as required.
- Assist the lead in developing multi-region sharing of VMAX scenarios and assets.
