About The Position

This role is responsible for safely formulating all meats, gravies, and water according to schedule, as supplied by the Supervisor and Q.C. The position requires participation as a member of the Team, fostering strong cohesiveness, and accepting responsibility to identify and resolve issues. The employee must be familiar with Simmons' established operating systems and understand their role in supporting these systems, including communicating concerns and improvement ideas. This position description is intended to guide activities and is not meant to limit creativity or describe all possible duties. Workers must comply with safety regulations, use required protective equipment, and report any hazards or defects.

  • Report any contravention of the Act or regulations or the existence of any hazard.
  • Do not remove or make ineffective any protective device without providing an adequate temporary device.
  • Replace protective devices immediately when the need for removal has ceased.
  • Use or operate any equipment, machine, device or thing or work in a manner that may endanger oneself or any other worker.
  • Do not engage in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct.

Responsibilities

  • Follow the order of the schedule and call for batches from the meat room, as required.
  • Weigh all ingredients and record weight before batching.
  • Record lot numbers and supplier for each ingredient used.
  • Act as a final check for Q.C and supervisor, notifying them of anything unusual (e.g., batch too thick, too thin, off color, off odor).
  • Follow formula guidelines listed on each batch sheet.
  • Record batching information for each batch made on formula kitchen sheets, including gravy weight, water level, water temp, tri-blender R.P.M.'s, final batch weight, fill temps, and additives.
  • Clean and sanitize the entire kitchen during can size changeovers or when notified by Supervisor.
  • Follow rinse procedures for cleaning the emulsifier and tanks 1, 2, & 3.
  • Regulate the drop temperature as required, following batch sheet guidelines or Supervisor instructions.
  • Participate in ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies.
  • Coordinate work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members.
  • Attend appropriate team meetings.
  • Foster strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues.
  • Accept responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team to resolve issues.
  • Actively look for ways to achieve synergy within the larger organization.
  • Maintain familiarity with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g., quality, security, office environment, company policies).
  • Understand the responsibility to support these systems and consider the impact of individual actions.
  • Communicate concerns and improvement ideas regarding operating systems.
  • Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
