About The Position

The Trustees of Reservations (The Trustees) is seeking a Signature Events Steward to support the setup, operation, and breakdown of two major events: the Incredible Naumkeag Pumpkin Show and Winterlights. This role is crucial for creating unforgettable experiences for thousands of visitors during the fall and winter seasons. The Signature Events Steward will work closely with the Engagement and Stewardship teams, reporting to the Property Director and Public Programs Coordinator. The position involves varied shifts depending on the event phase, including setup and 'run of show' operations. This is a seasonal or limited-term, non-exempt position.

Requirements

  • Ability to work in all weather conditions (rain, snow, etc.).
  • Ability to be on your feet for hours at a time.
  • Ability to frequently walk up and down hills/stairs.
  • Ability to push/pull and lift heavy objects.
  • Comfortable working on a ladder.
  • Ability to lift 20+ pounds.
  • Excellent 'people skills' to work cooperatively and harmoniously with employees, volunteers, and the public.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaborate as a team member.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States.
  • A valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
  • A satisfactory criminal background (CORI) check.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with event setup, including carving and designing pumpkins, installing lights and seasonal displays, moving event materials like hay bales and pumpkins, and decorating event spaces.
  • Assist with event breakdown and the safe storage of decorations and equipment.
  • Provide exceptional guest service during event operations by greeting and checking in guests, scanning tickets, staffing the historic house, answering visitor questions, operating concessions, and assisting with food and beverage purchases.
  • Serve as a floater to provide support wherever needed for smooth event operations.
  • Assist with wayfinding, crowd management, and maintaining a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors.
  • Respond to guest questions and represent The Trustees with a friendly, professional attitude.
