About The Position

Perform special duties as assigned. To support the mission of the State Sign Shop through the fabrication of custom and standard signs; process inventory documents; and to provide excellent customer service. Perform warehouse functions with routine inventory counts and checks; shipping, packaging and checking incoming and outgoing sign orders; housekeeping activities; and equipment and machine preventative maintenance.

Requirements

• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Ability to perform physically demanding labor.
• Knowledge of inventory procedures.
• Skill in the use of computers for graphic designs and related plotters.
• Ability to obtain Forklift Certification (Powered Industrial Truck Operator) within 90 days.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations to determine sign layout and sizes.
• Ability to work within tight production schedules and set performance standards.
• Knowledge of storage, handling techniques and safety regulations.
• Safety shoes required.
• Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

• A combination of training, experience, or education in Computer Technology, or related field desired.
• Experience in inventory procedures.
• Experience or education in sign fabrication or silk screening.
• Forklift Certification (Powered Industrial Truck Operator).
• Knowledge of standard computer applications.
• Skilled in using computer assisted design and computerized graphics software desired.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate mass-produced signs utilizing automatic squeeze roller and screening equipment; perform high quality production so that set up and operation are completed according to standards; and ensure all inventory and time records are handled appropriately.
• Perform work of moderate difficulty in the development of photo positives and silk-screens using computerized graphics equipment and chemical development processes; and ensure results can pass quality assurance review by Sign Shop Supervisor.
• Fabricate unique custom and handmade highway signs utilizing sign graphics computer software and computer assisted design station to cut out sign copy and graphics.
• Utilize other fabrication equipment to prepare signs for message applications; maintain records of time and materials used for determining sign cost; and ensure all copy and graphics are manually applied based on predetermined spacing layouts.
• Complete assigned work orders as required.
• Assist with other operations to include inventory audits or other inventory transactions; load and unload raw materials or completed signs; clean and maintain the shop and perform housekeeping functions; and perform preventative maintenance of shop equipment or facilities.
• Pull and replenish sign stock.
• Check and review sign orders with customers.
• Package sign orders for processing.
