About The Position

Waste Connections of Amarillo is seeking a safety-conscious CDL Route Driver to serve the Amarillo, Texas community. The driver safely operates a residential CDL truck to deliver dumpster containers to customers and provide high-quality service. The work takes place year-round in varied environments and weather conditions, and may involve working around heavy diesel equipment and trash. Drivers should be prepared for strenuous physical activity, including walking, lifting, pushing, and pulling heavy objects, as well as entering and exiting a high-set truck.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Have a satisfactory driving record.
Hold a Class A or Class B CDL.
Be able to work Monday through Friday, starting at approximately 5:30 a.m., for approximately 48–52 hours per week, including overtime.
Be physically comfortable with the demands of the job, including strenuous activity and handling objects over 75 pounds.

Responsibilities

Safely drive a commercial CDL truck in residential, construction, commercial, and other environments.
Choose a convenient dumpster drop-off location while avoiding property damage.
Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift and load dumpsters on and off the truck.
Secure dumpster loads, cover them appropriately, and account for weight shifts before departing.
Read route sheets and service each customer listed or assigned by the dispatcher.
Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
Interact courteously with customers.
Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
