About The Position

Waste Connections is hiring a Side Load Garbage Truck Driver for its location in Angleton, Texas. The driver safely operates a commercial CDL truck to provide trash and disposal services to the local community and deliver customer service. The work involves driving in residential, construction, commercial, and other environments; operating hydraulic hand controls to load and unload dumpsters; securing and covering loads; and completing assigned routes. The job is performed year-round in varying weather and work environments, often around heavy diesel equipment and dirty conditions. It requires extensive physical activity, including walking, exiting a high-set truck, and lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 75 pounds. The position involves exposure to moving mechanical parts, outside weather, wet or humid conditions, fumes, vibration, and moderate noise.

Requirements

Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must have a satisfactory driving record.
Must hold a Class A or Class B CDL.
Must be able to work Monday through any day of the week, starting as early as midnight.
Must be physically comfortable with the demands of the job, including strenuous activity and handling objects over 75 pounds.

Responsibilities

Safely operate a commercial CDL truck in residential, construction, commercial, and other environments.
Cautiously operate hydraulic hand controls to lift and load dumpsters on and off the truck.
Secure dumpster loads, cover them appropriately, and account for weight shift before departing.
Read route sheets and service each customer listed or assigned by the dispatcher.
Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
Interact courteously with customers.
Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
