About The Position

As a US Foods CDL A Shuttle Driver, you will drive tractor trailers carrying products such as meats, produce, frozen foods, and dry goods to and from remote dispatch sites. The role may also involve backhaul or delivery duties when needed. Drivers perform pre- and post-trip inspections and verify freight and trailer temperatures. The schedule is Sunday through Thursday, with dispatch between 2 PM and 5 PM, in Suffolk, Virginia. The posting says the driver must be comfortable working overnight.

Requirements

• Register with the FMCSA Clearinghouse.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Hold a valid CDL Class A issued by the state of legal residence, with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications.
• Have at least 6 months of commercial driving experience.
• Be comfortable working overnight.
• Be able to read and communicate in English, hold a conversation, understand highway traffic signs and signals, respond to official inquiries, and enter information on reports and records.
• Be able to lift, carry, push, pull, or lower 20 to 80+ pounds of product repetitively during each shift.
• Be able to drive and work in inclement weather and make frequent stops (10 or more per shift).
• Be comfortable working in a multi-temperature environment as low as 0 degrees.
• Be able to perform the listed physical activities, including grasping and manipulating objects, sitting, standing, walking, driving, climbing, balancing, stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, reaching above the shoulder, twisting, and using manual dexterity.

Nice To Haves

• Have at least 6 months of driving experience with doubles endorsements.
• Be able to operate a manual transmission; this may be required at specific locations.
