About The Position

Baystate Health is hiring a Shuttle Bus Driver for its Transportation team at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. The team provides safe, reliable transportation for patients, visitors, and team members, supporting the medical center’s daily operations and special events. The driver helps passengers reach their destinations safely and comfortably while providing excellent customer service and supporting the Baystate Health community.

The role involves operating vehicles ranging from minivans to 52-passenger buses for shuttle and special-event transportation. This is a per-diem position with variable hours based on operational needs.

Requirements

• No prior work experience required.
• Excellent driving record.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• GED or HiSET.
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Air Brake Endorsement from the State of Massachusetts.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience operating vehicles requiring a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate vehicles ranging from minivans to 52-passenger buses safely and responsibly.
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report discrepancies to the supervisor.
• Maintain knowledge of assigned routes and alternative routes.
• Follow applicable traffic laws and roadway safety regulations.
• Complete daily trip logs, vehicle inspection reports, and passenger reports.
• Complete accident and incident reports when appropriate.
• Immediately report vehicle maintenance issues to the supervisor.
• Demonstrate Baystate Health’s organizational values and provide excellent customer service in accordance with Baystate Best Training.
