About The Position

Changing Lives Productions, the production company behind Dhar Mann Studios, is seeking a hands-on Showrunner to lead the creative vision, execution, audience performance, and business results of its flagship Dhar Mann YouTube Main Channel. This role combines exceptional storytelling and scripted writing with YouTube-native creative leadership, analytical thinking, and business-minded operations. The Showrunner is responsible for building an efficient creative operation that reliably delivers five production-ready scripts each week while using audience data, effective systems, and close partnerships with Production and Finance to improve output and support financial performance. The Showrunner owns channel storytelling standards from original concept through production and final edit; originates, writes, and revises scripts; guides writers and creative producers; and develops ideas, characters, formats, and recurring franchises. The role also uses analytics and performance reviews to inform creative decisions, collaborates with Distribution on packaging and programming, manages production economics alongside Production and Finance, and develops scalable workflows and a lean, high-performing creative team. This is a full-time, in-person role at the company's Los Angeles-area studio, requiring flexibility and responsiveness to a fast-moving production schedule. Candidates will provide original writing samples and complete creative writing and ideation assessments. Finalists will participate in a paid, defined-duration working engagement to assess collaboration, operational leadership, responsiveness, and fit.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of proven showrunning or equivalent creative leadership experience, including leading writers and delivering content on demanding schedules.
  • Exceptional original scripted writing skills, demonstrated by a strong portfolio of produced work.
  • Strong ideation instincts and a track record of developing engaging concepts and emotionally effective stories.
  • Recent hands-on success creating and leading content for YouTube, with a native understanding of the platform, its audience, and performance drivers.
  • Ability to use analytics to diagnose creative performance and translate findings into stronger storytelling.
  • Financial and operational judgment covering budgets, production economics, staffing tradeoffs, KPIs, and cost-conscious creative decisions.
  • Track record of building reliable workflows and improving quality and throughput without automatically adding headcount.
  • Experience in fast-paced, flexible, high-volume production environments where resources must be deployed carefully.
  • Strong people leadership, creative judgment, cross-functional collaboration, and ability to give direct, actionable feedback.
  • Comfort with new technologies, collaboration tools, automation, and process improvement.
  • Excellent organization, responsiveness, and accountability, with the ability to stay close to details and solve problems promptly.
  • Ability to work in person at the Los Angeles-area studio and remain flexible and responsive to a fast-moving production schedule.
  • Candidates must submit original writing samples and complete creative writing and ideation assessments; finalists must participate in a paid, defined-duration working engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Main Channel's creative vision and storytelling standards from original concept through production and final edit.
  • Originate ideas, write and rewrite scripts, resolve story problems, and improve the work of other writers.
  • Lead delivery of five excellent, production-ready scripts every week through a lean, repeatable creative pipeline.
  • Develop fresh concepts, characters, formats, and recurring franchises suited to the audience and brand.
  • Guide pitches, beat sheets, outlines, scripts, and revisions with actionable notes on hooks, motivation, stakes, pacing, and emotional payoff.
  • Maintain a forward-looking story and script pipeline, remove bottlenecks, and ensure reliable production handoffs.
  • Use YouTube analytics, audience retention, click-through rate, watch time, and video performance to inform creative decisions.
  • Partner with Distribution on titles, thumbnails, programming, and packaging, and turn performance reviews into action.
  • Stay current on digital culture, YouTube creators, platform changes, and emerging storytelling opportunities.
  • Work with Production and Finance on revenue, budgets, costs, and profitability for the Main Channel.
  • Manage the financial implications of creative choices, staffing, locations, sets, production complexity, and shoot schedules.
  • Preserve or improve creative impact while lowering costs and increasing production efficiency.
  • Recruit, coach, and manage a lean, high-performing team of writers and creative producers, establishing clear ownership and accountability.
  • Build scalable systems for ideation, script development, notes, approvals, schedules, and team communication.
  • Apply tools, technology, automation, and AI where appropriate to reduce repetitive work without compromising quality.
  • Collaborate with Production, Post-Production, Casting, Analytics, Distribution, and executive leadership.
  • Communicate proactively, respond promptly, and make timely decisions to keep a high-volume production schedule on track.
  • Test new formats, creative processes, and production methods to improve content, speed, and efficiency.
