About The Position

Changing Lives Productions, the production company behind Dhar Mann Studios, is seeking a hands-on Showrunner to lead the creative vision, execution, audience performance, and business results of its flagship Dhar Mann YouTube Main Channel. This is not a traditional television showrunner role: the position combines exceptional scripted storytelling and writing with YouTube-native creative leadership, analytical thinking, and business-minded operations. The Showrunner will originate ideas, develop compelling stories, write and revise scripts, and lead a lean creative team in delivering five production-ready scripts every week. The role uses audience data to improve storytelling, builds systems and workflows to improve output, and partners with Production and Finance to manage production economics and profitability. The Showrunner also works closely with Distribution, Post-Production, Casting, Analytics, and executive leadership to keep a high-volume production schedule on track. The role reports to the CEO and works with the Founder on creative vision. It oversees the YouTube ideation, script development, and writing functions, including creative team leaders and writers. This is a full-time, in-person position at the company’s Los Angeles-area studio, with flexibility and responsiveness required for a fast-moving production schedule. Candidates will be asked for original writing samples and to complete creative writing and ideation assessments. Finalists will be invited to participate in a paid, defined-duration working engagement.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of proven showrunning or equivalent creative leadership experience, including leading writers and delivering content on demanding schedules.
  • Exceptional original scripted writing skills, demonstrated by a strong portfolio of produced work.
  • Outstanding ideation instincts and a track record of developing highly engaging concepts and emotionally effective stories.
  • Recent hands-on success creating and leading content for YouTube, with a native understanding of the platform, its audience, and performance drivers.
  • Ability to use analytics to diagnose creative performance and translate findings into stronger storytelling.
  • Financial and operational judgment, including budgets, production economics, staffing tradeoffs, KPIs, and cost-conscious creative decisions.
  • Track record of building reliable workflows and improving quality and throughput without automatically adding headcount.
  • Experience in fast-paced, flexible, high-volume production environments where resources must be deployed carefully.
  • Strong people leadership, sound creative judgment, cross-functional collaboration, and ability to give direct, actionable feedback.
  • Comfort with new technologies, collaboration tools, automation, and process improvement.
  • Excellent organization, responsiveness, and accountability, with the ability to stay close to details and solve problems promptly.
  • Willingness to work full-time in person at the Los Angeles-area studio and be flexible and responsive to a fast-moving production schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Main Channel’s creative vision and storytelling standards from original concept through production and final edit.
  • Originate ideas, write and rewrite scripts, resolve story problems, and elevate the work of other writers.
  • Lead the team in delivering five excellent, production-ready scripts every week through a lean, repeatable creative pipeline.
  • Generate concepts, characters, formats, and recurring franchises suited to the audience and brand.
  • Guide pitches, beat sheets, outlines, scripts, and revisions with clear notes on hooks, motivation, stakes, pacing, and emotional payoff.
  • Maintain a forward-looking story and script pipeline, address bottlenecks, and ensure reliable production handoffs.
  • Use YouTube analytics, audience retention, click-through rate, watch time, and video performance to improve creative decisions.
  • Partner with Distribution on titles, thumbnails, programming, and packaging, and turn weekly performance reviews into action.
  • Stay current on digital culture, YouTube creators, platform changes, and emerging storytelling opportunities.
  • Work with Production and Finance on revenue, budgets, costs, profitability, and the financial implications of creative and production choices.
  • Preserve or improve creative impact while lowering costs and increasing production efficiency.
  • Recruit, coach, and manage a lean, high-performing team of writers and creative producers, with clear ownership and accountability.
  • Build scalable systems for ideation, script development, notes, approvals, schedules, and team communication.
  • Apply tools, technology, automation, and AI where appropriate to reduce repetitive work without compromising quality.
  • Collaborate with Production, Post-Production, Casting, Analytics, Distribution, and executive leadership.
  • Communicate proactively, respond promptly, and make decisions in time to keep a high-volume production schedule on track.
  • Test new formats, creative processes, and production methods to improve content, speed, and efficiency.

Benefits

  • Finalists are invited to participate in a paid, defined-duration working engagement.
