About The Position

This position is a customer-facing role that combines sales expertise with product knowledge to drive revenue and customer satisfaction. This position serves as the primary point of contact for diverse clientele, including homeowners, contractors, designers, and builders. You'll interact with customers at various stages of their projects—from initial concept and design consultation to final purchase decision—positioning yourself as a trusted advisor. The job encompasses both retail floor sales and the ability to communicate effectively with trade professionals and design-oriented clients who may have complex specifications.

Requirements

  • 1-2 Years of Showroom, Retails or Sales experience: Proven track record of sales growth and strong customer service
  • 18+ Years Old: Must be at least 18 years old to apply
  • Willing to Learn: Eager to learn Gateway Supply's operations and products
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Professional appearance and demeanor

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers, qualify their needs, and conduct needs-assessment conversations to understand project scope, design preferences, and budget
  • Demonstrate fixtures, explain materials (ceramic, porcelain, glass, stone), finishes, water efficiency ratings, and compatibility with existing plumbing systems
  • Present tailored product options, highlight value propositions, and guide customers through the decision-making process
  • Assist with spatial planning, color/style coordination, and product combinations; collaborate with designers and architects on specifications
  • Process sales, handle payments, manage quotes, and coordinate orders for delivery or contractor pickup
  • Maintain clean, organized displays; keep products functioning; rotate inventory; ensure signage and pricing are accurate and current
  • Build rapport with repeat customers, contractors, and trade partners; handle special requests and complex orders
  • Track performance metrics, meet or exceed monthly/quarterly targets, and identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities
  • Maintain customer records, prepare documentation, and communicate with back office and warehouse teams
