About The Position

This role involves cutting the shoulder of poultry to prepare it for the wing rounder. The primary focus is on making accurate cuts to separate the wing from the front half of the bird, ensuring it is presented properly for subsequent processing. The position requires attention to detail in monitoring and improving cut quality, minimizing scrape scores, and managing knife sharpness and blade changes. Additionally, the role involves preparing presentations for wing cutters and actively participating as a team member, contributing to team concepts, policies, and problem-solving. Adherence to Simmons operating systems, including quality and security protocols, is expected, along with a willingness to perform other duties as necessary to support business objectives.

Requirements

Constant standing.
Constant bending at the neck.
Constant power grasping.
Constant fine manipulation/feeling.
Constant pushing/pulling.
Constant reaching above and at shoulder level.
Constant repetitive motion of shoulders, arms and hands.
Constant use of vision & hearing.
Occasional walking.
Occasional bending at the waist.
Occasional twisting of the neck and waist.
Frequent reaching at or below shoulder level.
Must be able to sharpen knife blade as necessary, every 3 or 4 birds.
Must change out blades at each break.
Familiarity with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies).
Ability to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
Must wear an apron, earplugs, kevlar gloves, hairnet/beard net, and required footwear.

Responsibilities

Make an accurate cut on every front half around the shoulder and along the scapula.
Properly pull the breast downward to separate meat from the frame.
Monitor and continuously improve cut while maintaining low scrape scores.
Pay close attention to bones and remove as necessary.
Sharpen knife blade as necessary, every 3 or 4 birds.
Change out blades at each break.
Responsible for preparing presentations for wing cutters.
Participates as a member of the team, fostering strong cohesiveness and resolving issues.
Understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with Simmons’ established operating systems and this position’s role in support of these systems.
Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
