Shop Superintendent (Pipe)
About The Position
The best Shop Superintendents don't just deliver projects. They build teams, develop leaders, and create the shop culture that determines whether a project succeeds. At RK Industries, you will own the floor — setting the tone, growing the team, and making sure every job that leaves the bay is built right, bundled right, and shipped on time. You'll have the opportunity to influence execution strategy, labor planning, prefabrication, productivity, safety, and quality while developing the Superintendents, Foremen, and craft professionals who will lead what's next. RK's in-house fabrication, manufacturing, construction, and building services capabilities give our leaders resources that many contractors simply don't have. Requirements
- 7 years of relevant pipe shop experience — this is non-negotiable.
- Advanced knowledge and techniques within the piping shop function
- Proven success leading complex projects, multiple crews, and field leaders
- Deep expertise in labor planning, scheduling, productivity, quality, cost, and project execution
- Strong judgment and the ability to make decisions in fast-moving environments
- A track record of developing people and building accountable teams
Nice To Haves
- Commercial HVAC production is a strong plus.
Responsibilities
- Maintain controlled conditions across all shop production activities and drive continuous improvement in process, quality, and productivity.
- Read drawings like a story — catch scope changes early, flag shop drawing revisions, and keep the shop ahead of the schedule instead of chasing it.
- Direct employees through bundling, staging, and complete shipment of materials, and coordinate delivery dates with our trucking partners.
- Ensure shop labor costs and timecards are allocated accurately.
- Coordinate closely with the VDC team and detailing partners so work packages flow cleanly from VDC into production.
- Partner shoulder-to-shoulder with Project Managers, field personnel, Schedulers, and Work Order Processors to deliver high-quality projects on time.
- Assist the Shop Operations Manager with hiring, evaluations, and terminations of shop personnel.
