About The Position
Holt CAT is the largest Caterpillar dealership of heavy equipment in the United States. We have a full-time, 1st shift Engine Technician - Shop position available at our Irving, Texas location. The hours of the position are Monday-Friday from 7 AM - 4 PM. This position is responsible for providing high-quality teardown, inspecting, and repairing industrial engines (natural gas and diesel) in a shop environment, in order to respond to customer needs in a positive, caring, and timely manner and to ensure maximum value for work performed. Our address is 2001 N. Loop 12, Irving, Texas 75061.
Requirements
- Four or more years of diesel or natural gas engine repair experience
- Ability and knowledge to read/use schematics and diagrams experience is preferred
- Graduation from a diesel technology program preferred
- Must have/acquire basic mechanic hand and pneumatic tools (metric/standard)

Responsibilities
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment malfunctions and failures
- Disassembles and assembles of machine components to manufacturer’s specifications through the use of hand tools, pneumatic tools, and any specialized tooling
- Rebuilds, repairs, reconditions, and maintains equipment and components
- Demonstrates good customer relations and support; communicates customer needs to shop management
- Plans and controls cost of repair jobs
- Completes parts orders and identifies parts for return
- Mentors and helps train other technicians
- Maintains all equipment and work areas – keeps in good, clean, and orderly condition
- Completes all documents associated with repairs in a timely manner
- Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
- Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; e.g., ProTech Technician Training Paths
- Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
- Performs other duties as assigned
