Shop Mechanic
About The Position
Pape’ Machinery, Inc.’s Agriculture & Turf Division is seeking a Shop Mechanic for its Ponderay, Idaho shop. The mechanic works on all makes and models of CCE, small gas engine, and agricultural equipment, ensuring repairs are completed accurately and on time to support customers and maximize equipment uptime. The role includes diagnosing equipment malfunctions and failures, performing repairs and rebuilds, and assisting with pre-delivery setup and installation on John Deere equipment and allied products. The position offers competitive compensation of $25–$35 per hour, depending on experience, along with benefits, training, mentoring, and opportunities for career advancement. Candidates must provide their own tools and successfully pass a pre-employment drug test.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of working knowledge of small engines, agricultural equipment, and CCE equipment.
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and air-conditioning systems.
- Team-oriented personality and ability to work without direct supervision.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Self-motivation and assertiveness.
- Must provide own tools.
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and diagnose malfunctions or failures in small engines and agricultural equipment.
- Repair, replace, or rebuild engines, transmissions, carburetors, final drives, steering, clutches, cross shafts, hydraulic components, electrical systems, and air systems.
- Work on mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and air-conditioning systems in CCE, small gas engine, and agricultural equipment.
- Assist with pre-delivery setup and installation on John Deere equipment and allied products.
- Complete equipment repairs accurately and in a timely manner to support customers and maximize uptime.
