About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Shop Mechanic Lead to join the Equipment team. The role is responsible for diagnosing and repairing equipment issues and performing preventative maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance. As a member of the Equipment division, the Mechanic works closely with other departments and stakeholders to support the efficient and effective use of company resources.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of experience in equipment maintenance and repair.
• Strong technical skills, including the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex equipment issues.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a construction setting.
• Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities; experience training or developing less experienced technicians or mechanics is preferred.
• Experience using equipment maintenance or repair software.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair work on company equipment, including heavy equipment, trucks, and trailers.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues and develop solutions to resolve them.
• Mentor, train, and provide technical guidance to apprentice and junior mechanics, developing their diagnostic, repair, and preventative maintenance skills while promoting safe and efficient work practices.
• Perform preventative maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimize downtime.
• Ensure equipment-related activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Manage relationships with vendors and equipment manufacturers, negotiate contracts, and resolve issues in a timely manner.
• Develop and maintain equipment-related reports and metrics, and communicate equipment-related information to stakeholders.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve equipment maintenance and repair processes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
