Shop Helper - Structural Welding (2nd Shift)
About The Position
Crown Technical Systems, a Flex Company, designs customized power distribution and protection systems, including relay and control panels, medium voltage switchgear, and power/control buildings. The Shop Helper supports Structural Welding at the Dallas, Texas location and assists with preparing, grinding, sanding, and cleaning sheet metal and steel material. The role also supports machine operators and welders with tasks involved in fabricating materials. It reports to the Production Manager and is scheduled Monday through Friday, 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM. Flex intends to spin off its Cloud and Power Infrastructure segment into Axiom, an independent publicly traded company, with the spin planned for Q1 2027. If the spin occurs, this role will support Axiom, which focuses on critical digital infrastructure and end-to-end power and thermal management solutions for AI data centers and other mission-critical applications.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or a related field.
- Knowledge of manufacturing, equipment maintenance, and safety management.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 35 pounds at a time.
- Must wear production-floor PPE, including gloves, safety glasses, a hard hat, and ear protection.
Responsibilities
- Cut material in preparation for fabrication or processing.
- Chip or grind excess weld, slag, or spatter using hand scrapers, power chippers, portable grinders, or arc-cutting equipment.
- Assist machine operators, including press brake, punch press, and laser operators, with loading and unloading items from machines.
- Assist welders with structural welds by holding materials in place.
- Transfer raw materials, finished products, tools, or equipment between production-floor work areas using powered equipment such as forklifts.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
