About The Position

Engineered Steel Products (ESP), a North Carolina-based steel fabrication company serving the construction industry, is hiring a Painter/Paint Shop Helper to prepare materials and perform industrial painting duties. The role supports efficient workflow by mixing paints, cleaning tools, and organizing the workspace in accordance with safety and quality standards.

The position begins on first shift for training, with a planned transition to second shift. Initial hours are 6:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with frequent Saturday shifts. After the transition, hours are 3:30 PM to 1:00 AM, Monday through Friday, with frequent Saturday shifts.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
• Basic knowledge of painting materials and tools.
• Basic understanding of color mixing and paint application techniques.
• Ability to operate basic hand and power tools safely.
• Ability to stand, lift, and carry materials up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to perform repetitive motions and work in awkward positions, sometimes in hot or noisy environments.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in a paint shop.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, and masking areas as directed.
• Mix and match paint colors according to specifications and ensure proper storage of materials.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the paint shop, including cleaning brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
• Support painters by providing tools and materials as needed.
• Inspect equipment regularly and report maintenance or repair needs to supervisors.
• Dispose of paint waste and hazardous materials in compliance with environmental regulations.
• Follow safety guidelines and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
