About The Position

The Shop Helper supports U-Haul repair shop personnel while learning shop operations and developing technical skills. The role involves using U-Haul’s proprietary technology to assess and care for field vehicles, with opportunities for on-the-job training and career advancement. No previous experience is required. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. The position is located at 1220 SW 8th St, Pompano Beach, Florida 33069.

U-Haul describes a paid, hands-on working interview and a $100 hiring bonus. The job involves working around moving parts, machinery, fumes, or chemicals, and may require protective gear. Physical activity includes periods indoors and outdoors, remaining stationary, traversing spaces, repositioning to use tools, and moving at least 50 pounds with or without assistance. U-Haul states that, consistent with applicable state law, it will not hire or re-hire individuals who use nicotine products in Florida and other listed states.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to maintain a clean driving record.
• Forklift certified.
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work and must not require employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Use specialized equipment to dismount, balance, and mount tires.
• Maintain and recycle batteries.
• Maintain a clean work area.
• Use machinery to turn brake rotors and drums.
• Rebuild trailer components, including brake systems and equalizers.
• Assist shop personnel and willingly provide assistance in additional areas as necessary, following supervisor directives and guidance.
• Use U-Haul proprietary technology to assess and care for field vehicles.
