R. Scheinert & Son, Inc. is a fifth-generation, family-owned company with over 118 years of experience providing expert repair and rewinding services for electrical and mechanical rotating equipment. From our modern 24,000 sq. ft. facility in Philadelphia, we specialize in the repair of AC & DC electric motors, pumps, gearboxes, and other industrial rotating equipment. We are an EASA member committed to quality, safety, and exceptional customer service. We are currently seeking an experienced Shop Foreman to lead our skilled team of technicians. The Shop Foreman is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing daily shop operations, supervising technicians, and ensuring high-quality, on-time repairs of electro-mechanical equipment. This position combines technical expertise with strong leadership and organizational skills.

Requirements

  • 5–7+ years of hands-on experience in electro-mechanical repair (motor repair/rewinding strongly preferred)
  • Previous supervisory or lead experience in a repair shop or industrial maintenance environment
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, mechanical components, schematics, and diagnostic tools
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
  • Physically able to work in a shop environment (lifting, standing, bending)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with electric motor rewinding
  • Knowledge of variable frequency drives (VFDs), controls, vibration analysis, and alignment procedures
  • Experienced in pump repair
  • Machining, welding, or dynamic balancing experience
  • Technical certifications or EASA-related training
  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical/trade school a plus)

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of electro-mechanical technicians
  • Oversee the repair, rewinding, disassembly, reassembly, testing, and troubleshooting of AC/DC motors, pumps, gearboxes, and rotating equipment
  • Manage shop workflow, job scheduling, and prioritization to meet customer deadlines
  • Ensure all work meets quality standards, customer specifications, and EASA guidelines
  • Maintain a safe working environment in full compliance with OSHA regulations
  • Perform and oversee complex electrical and mechanical diagnostics using schematics, wiring diagrams, and test equipment
  • Manage shop equipment maintenance, tooling, and parts inventory
  • Collaborate with sales, service, and field teams on job estimates and technical support
  • Promote a positive, productive, and safety-focused team culture
