Shop Foreman
About The Position
As a Shop Foreman at United Rentals, you will help lead a maintenance enterprise and ensure Service Technicians, equipment, and materials are used effectively to maximize productivity. You will help improve efficiency and customer satisfaction by ensuring rental equipment is properly maintained and repaired. Working closely with the Service/Branch Manager, you will use your leadership and service and maintenance knowledge to help build a profitable location. Strong performance in this role can lead to advancement to Service Manager. This position is designated Safety Sensitive under United Rentals’ policies and procedures. The role may require travel to customer job sites to repair or maintain rental or customer-owned equipment, and the service vehicle must be kept clean and professional. Compensation range: $32.85–$47.30; the actual rate varies based on factors including position, education, training, experience, skills, and ability.
Requirements
- High school diploma required.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- At least 5 years of experience repairing or maintaining equipment and tools.
- Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
- Must own tools applicable to the position.
- Extensive knowledge of construction equipment and an advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams.
- Strong diagnostic and repair skills across a variety of systems.
- Superior customer service, teamwork, and verbal and written communication skills.
Nice To Haves
- Trade-school degree.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the activities of Service Technicians.
- Train and supervise mechanical personnel when necessary.
- Ensure the safe maintenance and repair of a variety of complex rental equipment.
- Diagnose equipment issues and supervise repairs to ensure work is performed efficiently.
- Maintain complete and timely paperwork or electronic documentation of work performed, including work orders, on a daily basis.
- When required, travel to customer job sites to repair or maintain rental or customer-owned equipment and keep the service vehicle clean and professional.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
