About The Position

Skillforce has teamed up with a leading sheet metal fabrication and installation company to find an experienced Shop Foreman- Sheet Metal Fabrication to join their growing team in Louisville, KY. We are looking for an experienced Shop Foreman to lead day-to-day operations in a commercial and industrial sheet metal fabrication shop. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who can manage a crew while also jumping in to fabricate ductwork, fittings, and transitions. During the initial growth phase, this position may also assist with field installation before transitioning to primarily shop-based leadership.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of sheet metal fabrication experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in a Lead or Foreman role.
  • Strong blueprint reading and sheet metal layout skills.
  • Experience fabricating ductwork, fittings, transitions, and related components.
  • Proficiency with CNC plasma equipment, shears, brakes, roll formers, and welding.
  • Strong understanding of shop safety and material handling.
  • OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 preferred.
  • High school diploma/GED required; trade school or sheet metal apprenticeship preferred.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 80 lbs.
  • Willingness to assist with field installation during the company's growth/start-up phase.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate daily shop activities and assign work based on priorities and deadlines.
  • Supervise, train, mentor, and develop shop employees and apprentices.
  • Plan production schedules and coordinate with Project Managers and field crews.
  • Read blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications to determine fabrication requirements.
  • Perform hands-on layout, cutting, bending, forming, and assembly of sheet metal.
  • Operate equipment including CNC plasma tables, shears, press brakes, and roll formers.
  • Weld, solder, rivet, bolt, and assemble sheet metal components.
  • Monitor material inventory and coordinate ordering of supplies.
  • Perform or coordinate routine equipment maintenance.
  • Inspect completed work for quality, accuracy, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.
  • Enforce safety procedures, PPE requirements, and proper equipment operation.
  • Coordinate staging, labeling, and delivery of fabricated materials to jobsites.
  • Support field installation crews as needed.
