About The Position

Maguire is hiring a Shop Flux Core/Stick Welder for its new tank division. The role involves welding, cutting, and brazing metal pieces and products using Flux Core and Stick welding equipment and techniques. The welder is expected to have good knowledge of welding techniques and produce quality work. The position requires working on components in vertical, flat, and overhead orientations, as well as physical dexterity and the ability to lift and move materials.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of dual-shield MIG welding experience.
• Must pass a company weld test.
• Thorough understanding of welding machines and tools, including their designs, uses, maintenance, and repair.
• Basic understanding of design techniques, principles, and tools used to produce technical plans, drawings, models, and blueprints.
• Ability to read and listen to assignments provided in a variety of forms.
• Basic understanding of mathematics as it relates to welding assignments.
• Ability to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead.
• Sufficient manual dexterity and stability for precision work.
• Ability to see details at close range.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at times and traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.

Responsibilities

• Plan work-order procedures and gather the tools and materials required for each job based on instructions and specifications.
• Repair and fabricate items and equipment using cutting, burning, and welding techniques and equipment.
• Monitor welding, burning, and fitting to prevent parts from overheating or being damaged by warping, distortion, expansion, or shrinkage.
• Prepare, assemble, and tack-weld parts and surfaces.
• Maintain, organize, and clean equipment and the work area.
• Notify a supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
