About The Position

The Shop Crane Tech Trainee assists the shop with assigned duties while learning the responsibilities of a Shop Crane Technician under the guidance of the Service Manager and other shop technicians. The position is based at the MGX Equipment Services branch in Ankeny, Iowa, and reports to the Service Manager. A customized training plan and career path outlining growth and advancement opportunities is provided during the first week of employment. The role may require travel to other locations for cross-training.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Mechanical background and related experience with electrical and hydraulics.
• Self-starter with initiative to advance.
• Ability and desire to provide excellent customer service.
• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Willingness to travel to other locations for cross-training if required.

Nice To Haves

• Experience as a general laborer or yard worker within the construction or heavy equipment industry.

Responsibilities

• Take on basic job assignments to learn the responsibilities of a Shop Crane Technician under the guidance of the Service Manager and other shop technicians.
• Help shop technicians perform inspections and repairs.
• Inspect tools and equipment to ensure they are in working order.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Perform job functions safely, wear required personal protective equipment, follow safety and health procedures, participate in safety training, and bring safety issues or suggestions to management’s attention.
