About The Position

The Shop Assistant supports the service department with duties that aid daily operations. The role helps maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop, supports technicians and coworkers, and contributes to a positive customer experience. Work takes place in a shop environment with moderate to high noise levels at times and moderate to heavy physical exertion. The role may require occasionally lifting or moving up to 100 pounds, standing, and climbing into trailers. Weekend work is not required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Be helpful and considerate to coworkers and customers.
• Adhere to company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Display a professional attitude toward the company and fellow employees.
• Maintain a professional appearance.
• Maintain verbal and written communications as required.
• Able to occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds, stand, and climb into trailers.

Nice To Haves

• 3–6 months of related experience or training is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of the entire shop, excluding technician bays and toolboxes.
• Perform daily shop safety inspections and complete daily shop sweep sheets.
• Monitor bulk supplies and notify a supervisor to prevent shortages.
• Maintain cleanliness of the customer service area, employee locker room, and office.
• Maintain and inventory shop tools and air compressors.
• Maintain and monitor the maintenance schedule for floor scrubbers.
• Assist technicians with minor repairs after all other tasks are complete.
• Assist with snow removal and keep snow clear from customer units as needed.
• Categorize and recycle scrap metal, bulk fluids, and cardboard.
• Operate a forklift and perform its daily checklist.
• Pick up parts and deliver parts to vendors.
• Perform monthly fire extinguisher inspections.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area; be helpful and considerate to coworkers and customers; follow company policies and standards; and communicate verbally and in writing as required.
