About The Position

The Shop and Build-a-Bear Party Associate is the first point of contact at the DreamLab, welcoming and assisting customers and supporting volunteers and staff. The role serves Girl Scout members, parents, staff, party hosts, and guests by providing customer service, assisting with retail sales, maintaining the council shop, and coordinating Build-a-Bear parties for volunteers and girls. Party duties include preparing and resetting the party area, organizing supplies and equipment, welcoming guests, engaging children and adults in activities and games, following the event schedule, answering questions, and addressing concerns. The associate supervises participants and helps ensure the party area is safe. This is a per diem position and is not benefit eligible except where required by federal or state law.

Requirements

Knowledge of and experience with customer service, retail, and/or sales.
Availability to work nights and weekends.
Enthusiasm for working with children and ability to engage with diverse age groups.
Positive attitude, integrity, and interest in helping girls reach their fullest potential.
Excellent organizational skills and strong written and verbal communication and active listening skills.
Ability to be creative and flexible in response to changing priorities and emerging needs.
Ability to manage time, prioritize, meet deadlines, and handle several activities simultaneously.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Membership in GSUSA is required upon employment.
Valid driver’s license, reliable automobile, and auto insurance.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and bend, stoop, and kneel as needed for event setup and cleanup.
Ability to speak, read, write, interpret, and respond to English-language communications.

Responsibilities

Welcome visitors and provide high-quality service to internal and external customers while representing Girl Scouting positively.
Ring up and assist customers with sales in the council shop.
Maintain the shop's appearance to GSNNJ standards.
Coordinate and execute Build-a-Bear parties with volunteers and girls.
Supervise program participants and help ensure party areas are safe.
Engage guests through activities and party games.
Prepare the party area with tables, chairs, and necessary equipment.
Ensure party supplies and materials are ready before events begin.
Welcome party hosts and guests and assist them with questions or needs.
Maintain an energetic, positive, and engaging environment for children and adults.
Address concerns or issues that arise during events.
Follow party schedules and communicate timing to hosts and guests.
Clean and reset party areas after events, dispose of trash, clean surfaces, and organize and store supplies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
