About The Position

The Shipping Supervisor leads order verification, packaging, shipping, and carrier loading while also performing hands-on shipping work. The role ensures orders placed before the applicable cutoff are prepared accurately and leave with the scheduled pickup. It balances efficient packaging and operating costs with adequate product protection, coordinates workflow and exceptions with RPPC, and provides primary backup for Large Pack & Dock, including oversized and LTL shipments. The supervisor coaches employees, investigates recurring errors and delays, and uses the Lead for daily operational coverage while escalating staffing or resource needs to the Warehouse General Manager. The position also coordinates approved promotional-insert instructions with marketing and directs the physical packing work. Hiring and termination remain with managers.

Requirements

  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn warehouse software, scanners, and other tools required for assigned duties.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills for training team members, assigning and coordinating workflow, and reporting and resolving discrepancies, damage, safety concerns, and workflow problems.
  • Ability to organize work, maintain accurate records, and keep products and work areas orderly.
  • Ability to work cooperatively, follow supervisory direction, and adapt to changing priorities while maintaining quality and productivity.
  • Commitment to safe work practices, proper material handling, and using equipment only within training and authorization.
  • Ability to stand and walk regularly throughout the shift.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and reach overhead frequently.

  • Manual dexterity to retrieve, handle, and package orders and perform computer data entry.
  • Ability to read product labels, order information, and computer screens, using appropriate aids as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Verify picked products and quantities against orders before packing, and resolve discrepancies with RPPC while retaining ownership of final verification.

  • Assign work, monitor staged orders, and coordinate with RPPC regarding supplies and exceptions.

  • Coach employees, perform hands-on shipping work, and investigate recurring errors or delays.

  • Coordinate approved promotional-insert instructions with marketing and direct the physical packing work.
  • Maintain clear responsibilities and raise matters beyond delegated authority.
