About The Position

The Shipping & Receiving Team Lead is responsible for coordinating and supporting shipping, receiving, yard, and inventory activities involving large, oversized, and high‑capacity materials, including oilfield casing and pipe. This role ensures materials are accurately received, safely handled, properly documented, and shipped on time while maintaining yard organization, inventory records, and compliance with safety and quality standards. The position also includes leading daily activities of shipping and receiving personnel and coordinating closely with manufacturing, customers, and carriers.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, lead by example, and support team performance.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time and multiple priorities.
  • Detail‑focused, dependable, and consistently driven to improve.
  • Strong ability to interpret and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Outlook) and basic computer skills.
  • Strong written and spoken English communication (Grade 12 level).
  • Solid basic math and technical comprehension.
  • Good physical fitness; can stand or walk for long periods of time, and the ability to lift/carry materials weighing up to 45 lbs.
  • Grade 12 or GED preferred; post‑secondary education in supply chain or logistics will be considered an asset
  • Valid Forklift certification; experience with propane powered counterbalances
  • Minimum 2+ years of leadership experience in a yard, equipment, or industrial environment.
  • Pipe yard experience preferred, with the ability to oversee daily operations.
  • Experience handling oversized while adhering to company safety procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with overhead cranes, loaders, and other yard equipment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead shipping and receiving personnel and assign daily work.
  • Prepare, stage, load, and unload pipe and oversized materials using forklifts, loaders, and overhead cranes.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, including overseas containers and inter‑facility transfers.
  • Conduct receiving inspections to verify material condition, specifications, and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate pipe tallies, inventory records, cycle counts, and annual inventories (Tally system).
  • Manage yard inventory, job allocations, completed production, and field inventory requests.
  • Stack and unstack pipe in accordance with strict safety and handling procedures.
  • Ensure yard layout, storage areas, and shop spaces remain organized and well‑maintained
  • Respond to shipping discrepancies and service commitment issues in a timely manner.
  • Work within the company’s QMS policies and practices and recommend improvements, where appropriate.
  • Active participation in FET’s Health, Safety and Environment program.
  • Other duties as assigned.
