About The Position

The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor supervises the scheduling and coordination of trucks and drivers according to customer requests and in compliance with DOT regulations and company rules. The role controls departmental expenses and develops solutions to issues as they arise. The supervisor notifies drivers of assignments and reviews and verifies the accuracy of driver logs and database information.

Requirements

Minimum of two years of experience as a Production Manager or equivalent.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent.
Experience and knowledge of UFP's organization, culture, and product lines.

Responsibilities

Manage and schedule inbound and outbound loads, coordinating with Sales and Production.
Coordinate proper loading and shipping orders with Shipping and Receiving personnel.
Arrange loads shipped by common carrier with outside freight companies.
Ensure inbound product is stored properly.
Determine the mode of transportation and select appropriate carriers.
Negotiate rates for transportation services.
Route orders and dispatch carriers with orders and delivery instructions that meet customer receiving times.
Ensure internal and external paperwork complies with Universal and DOT regulations and procedures.
Establish delivery and receiving appointments and loading times for each carrier.
Manage internal UFP equipment and drivers.
Answer questions and resolve supplier and customer transportation problems.
Document order shortages, investigate their causes, and inform carriers to seek compensation or resolve customer issues with Sales' assistance.
Audit and approve freight bills for payment.
File claims for inventory loss or damage and notify plant management.
Respond to calls to trace or expedite orders.
Prepare required reports and correspondence.
Manage data in the data system.
Perform other duties as required.
