The Shipping/Receiving Clerk performs clerical and physical tasks related to shipping goods and receiving incoming shipments. Routine tasks follow established guidelines; unusual, non-routine problems are handled with specific guidance from a supervisor or other officials. The incumbent may direct and coordinate other workers handling goods for shipment or receipt. Shipping work includes checking that orders and quantities match shipping documents; ensuring goods are properly packaged, identified, and loaded into transport vehicles; and preparing and maintaining shipping records such as manifests and bills of lading. Receiving work includes comparing incoming goods and quantities with shipping or other records, checking for damage, ensuring goods are identified for routing to the appropriate departments, and preparing and maintaining receiving records. The role involves transporting or storing materials using material handling equipment, inspecting government-owned materiel, entering information in government computer systems, and following government-provided procedures. Some positions may require a security clearance. In-house training is provided as required. Lead personnel receive workload instructions from the Amentum Supervisor/Manager and carry them out.
