About The Position

Georgia-Pacific is hiring a Shipping Manager at its Cleveland, Tennessee corrugated site. The role uses leadership, operations experience, and communication to identify and implement improvement opportunities involving people, processes, and systems. The Shipping Manager leads the shipping and warehouse functions, develops employees, supports customer delivery performance, and promotes safety and product compliance.

Requirements

• Experience in a shipping or warehouse role in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, systems engineering, supply chain management, or a similar field.
• Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Certification as an OSHA Train-the-Trainer Forklift Instructor.
• Experience with computerized inventory systems.
• Experience using ERP/WMS software systems.
• Project management experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate, and develop hourly employees to improve individual and business performance.
• Develop plans for direct-report development and people-management strategies.
• Participate in daily and weekly OTIF planning and strategy meetings and pursue continuous OTIF improvement.
• Foster a culture based on Principle Based Management (PBM®).
• Promote a safety culture that supports manufacturing, warehousing, and delivery of uncontaminated products in compliance with applicable product-safety laws, regulations, and corporate policies.
• Manage shipping and warehouse functions and inventory accuracy at the plant and third-party warehouses.
• Improve shipping efficiency to support on-time, in-full customer deliveries.
• Communicate with Sales and Customer Service to meet customer needs.
• Collaborate with outside carriers to manage truck fleets and work with outside vendors.
• Evaluate deliveries, shipments, and product levels to improve inventory issues and shortages.
• Manage root-cause analysis completion and action-closure tracking for external carrier and warehouse OTIF misses.
• Serve as the site's Chief Safety Officer for mobile equipment.
