About The Position

ITW Shakeproof, part of ITW, serves automotive OEMs and tier suppliers with metal, cold-headed fasteners. The Shipping Clerk works closely with customer service, client representatives, and trucking-firm drivers to maintain high service levels. The role coordinates shipping arrangements and instructions, supports carriers on-site, creates shipping documentation, and helps ensure customer requirements are met. The position also supports shipping department operations, quality handling, order scanning, and customer service functions.

Requirements

• High school diploma and a logistics certificate from a college or technical school, or six months of related experience.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow directions, instructions, and safety rules.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.
• Keypunch or data-entry experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
• Detail-oriented.

• Forklift certification.

Responsibilities

• Create and interpret shipping orders based on customer routing instructions and current customer requirements.
• Interpret shipping orders to facilitate shipping arrangements and instructions.
• Contact carrier representatives to arrange shipments and provide loading instructions.
• Enter advance shipping notifications (ASNs) within specified time frames and verify documentation accuracy.
• Provide customer service to on-site carriers and ensure required documentation is completed accurately and on time.
• Perform customer data entry using shipping orders to create bills of lading.
• Organize and file shipping and receiving documentation for the facility.
• Understand the quality system and identify and properly handle parts with quality warnings.
• Handle hot jobs carefully and urgently while expediting them through the department.
• Maintain accurate, legible departmental logs and records and communicate discrepancies to appropriate personnel.
• Use an RF scanner to ensure products are scanned correctly and help order pullers resolve product-scanning issues.
• Work with customer service and shipping department colleagues to meet customer needs.
• Assist with customer service functions before and after hours.
• Work with FedEx and UPS supply chain.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
