About The Position

The Shipping Clerk verifies and accurately logs, invoices, tags, and loads shipments, including PSST and R&L orders when applicable. The role works at a fast and accurate pace and interacts with customers and internal departments. Depending on the shipping method, the employee safely and efficiently loads trailers and other vehicles by manually lifting and stacking product cases.

The position works Monday through Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Pay is $17.50 per hour plus a $1.00 shift differential, for a total of $18.50 per hour. Essential days or overtime may be required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Less than one year of warehouse experience.
• Ability to read and write and to identify colors, sizes, quantities, labels, and SKU information.
• Basic math skills for counting and quantity work.
• Ability to work positively and supportively with customers and coworkers.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organization skills, including the ability to multitask and prioritize daily responsibilities.
• Ability to learn Internal Operating Systems and operate a Radio Frequency (RF) unit.
• Self-starter with strong initiative and the ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Proficient typing and data-entry skills.
• Ability to follow directions and adjust priorities or duties as business needs require.
• Ability to work in a high-demand, high-volume environment and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic English literacy for operating machines and completing necessary daily paperwork.
• Ability to complete and maintain SanMar’s Lift Operator Certification every three years if required.
• Essential days or overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

• Invoice, tag, and load customer shipments accurately and on time.
• Verify orders and charges for accurate invoicing, tagging, and loading, including PSST and R&L shipments.
• Create parcel or freight invoices, paying close attention to shipping charges and deadlines.
• Respond to inquiries from account executives, traffic staff, drivers, and others by phone or email.
• Manually load pallets onto a conveyor by safely lifting and stacking cases.
• Use a Radio Frequency (RF) unit and the Internal Operating System to perform daily work and verify shipping details.
• Meet minimum production and accuracy standards and delivery deadlines.
• Check out equipment and return it in the same condition.
• Operate powered lift equipment if required, after completing SanMar’s Lift Operator Certification.
• Maintain a safe, neat, and clean work area in accordance with SanMar safety regulations.
