About The Position

The Shipping Clerk Level I plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of outgoing shipments within a manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for coordinating the preparation, packaging, and documentation of products to meet shipping schedules and customer requirements. The role requires meticulous attention to detail to verify shipment contents, maintain accurate records, and comply with company policies and regulatory standards. The Shipping Clerk Level I collaborates closely with warehouse personnel, logistics providers, and internal departments to facilitate smooth operations and timely delivery. Ultimately, this position contributes to customer satisfaction by supporting the reliable and organized dispatch of manufactured goods.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures.
  • Familiarity with standard office software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Ability to lift and move packages up to 50 pounds as required.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Previous experience in a shipping or warehouse environment within manufacturing.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using warehouse management systems (WMS) or shipping software.
  • Basic understanding of transportation regulations and documentation requirements.
  • Forklift certification or experience operating material handling equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and external carriers.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and package products for shipment according to company standards and customer specifications.
  • Unload trucks with incoming material/ products/ components and processes receipts according to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Verify shipment contents against packing lists and purchase orders to ensure accuracy.
  • Generate and maintain shipping documentation, including bills of lading, shipping labels, and customs paperwork as applicable.
  • Coordinate with warehouse staff and transportation carriers to schedule pickups and deliveries.
  • Prepare customer orders for shipment: Stage the required shipment quantity; verify part/lot numbers; shrink-wrap palletized loads; affix shipping labels; mark shipping information on carton/pallets/skids.
  • Load trucks with outgoing freight and process shipments and inventory transfers according to customer requirements and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Maintain organized records of all shipments and report any discrepancies or issues to supervisors promptly.
  • Assist in inventory control by tracking outgoing shipments and updating inventory systems.
  • Maintain product integrity within a specific location for storage and/or movements.
  • Identify and locate items. When necessary, prepare items for handling by shrink wrapping or otherwise securing items to a pallet or container.
  • Moves material and items from receiving or production stages to designated areas.
  • Ensures compliance with safety regulations and company policies during all shipping activities.
