About The Position

The SAP Shipping and Product Flow Coordinator is a position with diverse tasks that include shipping parts, verifying quantities, quality, labeling and addressing for shipments to customers. This role is also responsible for planning, scheduling, releasing, purchasing, and tracking of workflow from the engineering department through the production department. Additionally, the position involves in-depth involvement and/or leadership in lean manufacturing events.

Requirements

  • Requires physical ability and stamina to perform the essential functions of the position, including the ability to lift, push, hold and/or carry up to 50 pounds, walk, stand, kneel, bend, stoop, reach over and under waist level, and twist for extended periods of time on cement or other hard surfaces, etc.
  • Demonstrates the ability to read and accurately interpret shipping, production, and quality paperwork related to the position.
  • High level knowledge of work order routings, prints, sketches, drawings, specifications and/or sample parts to understand the operation, production, and quality requirements for the product being shipped.
  • Able to write legibly, and accurately complete required shipping, production, quality, and human resources paperwork related to position.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task.
  • Two years of related experience.
  • High school diploma required.
  • Must be able to communicate in English.
  • Must have strong computer skills (including Microsoft Office) and ability to use ERP system fluently.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in analysis of customer demand versus production capability to maintain level loading and support on-time delivery.
  • Monitor part process flow to provide early detection of any impediment to on-time delivery caused by deviation in the timeline.
  • Notify appropriate personnel of any discrepancies in production outputs.
  • Monitor process to eliminate / reduce downtime, improve productivity and quality, reduce cost, including shipping supplies cost. Coordinate with production, quality, and/or office personnel to help resolve issues and problems with the process.
  • Communicate critical information for off shifts.
  • Verify counts, weights or measures of items to be packaged.
  • Visually check parts to ensure they are free of damage, contaminants, and rust prior to packaging.
  • Ensure all parts are packaged in accordance with work orders or customer specific instructions.
  • Label shipping containers per customer requirements.
  • Proactively use available time to perform additional production, maintenance, material handling, housekeeping or quality assurance duties including preparing for upcoming shipments and replenishing shipping materials.
  • Train and assist new, existing, and contract employees whenever needed.
  • Keep work area and other key areas of SAP clean and organized at all times. Use Lean Manufacturing “6S” principles as a guide.
  • Fill out all required paperwork including quality, production and time reporting documents accurately, legibly and in a timely manner and place them in their proper location.
  • Follow and maintain Schafer procedures and assist in coordinating, maintaining and improving AS9100 related activities, procedures and documentation.
  • Communicate with suppliers for sending POs / dispatch and follow up / expedite on OSPs.
  • Participate / Lead in weekly or as applicable planning meeting to assure sufficient parts in process and at appropriate stages to assure be able to ship product on time and develop safety stock.
