About The Position

HUTCO, INC. is seeking first-class ship fitters with shipyard experience for shipyards in Port Allen, Louisiana. The work primarily involves repairing barges and boats. Candidates will take an on-site test to assess their capabilities. No TWIC card is required.

The ship fitter lays out and fabricates metal structural parts, including plates, bulkheads, and frames, and braces them in position within a ship's hull for welding.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience as a first-class ship fitter.
• Shipyard experience.
• Outfitting experience.
• Knowledge of ship terminology.
• Ability to lay out and fabricate parts for ships.
• Ability to burn, wash, and bevel with a hand torch.
• Pass an on-site capabilities test.
• Pass a drug test and physical.
• Ability to work all shifts.

Responsibilities

• Lay out and fabricate metal structural parts such as plates, bulkheads, and frames.
• Brace fabricated parts in position within a ship's hull for welding.
• Perform repair work primarily on barges and boats.
• Burn, wash, and bevel materials with a hand torch.
