About The Position
Hutco, Inc. is seeking first-class ship fitters with shipyard experience for shipyards in Harvey, Louisiana. The work primarily involves repairs on barges and boats. Candidates will complete an on-site test to assess their capabilities. No TWIC card is required. The ship fitter lays out and fabricates metal structural parts, such as plates, bulkheads, and frames, and braces them in position within a ship’s hull for welding.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience as a first-class ship fitter.
- Shipyard experience.
- Outfitting experience.
- Knowledge of ship terminology.
- Ability to lay out and fabricate parts for ships.
- Ability to burn, wash, and bevel with a hand torch.
- Must pass a drug test and physical.
- Must be able to work all shifts.
- Must pass an on-site test assessing capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Lay out and fabricate metal structural parts, including plates, bulkheads, and frames.
- Brace fabricated parts in position within the ship’s hull for welding.
- Perform repair work on barges and boats.
- Burn, wash, and bevel materials with a hand torch.
