About The Position

Hutco, Inc. is hiring a 1st Class Shipfitter in Tampa, Florida. The role involves laying out and fabricating metal structural parts, including plates, bulkheads, and frames, and bracing them in position within a ship’s hull for welding. The pay rate is $29.00 per hour, with a $120.00 daily per diem for those who qualify.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a 1st Class Shipfitter.
• Outfitting experience.
• Knowledge of ship terminology.
• Ability to read blueprints to lay out and fabricate parts for ships.
• Ability to burn and bevel with a hand torch.
• Must pass a fillet weld test using 7018 rods.
• Must pass a drug test and E-Verify.
• Must be able to work all shifts.

Responsibilities

• Lay out and fabricate metal structural parts such as plates, bulkheads, and frames.
• Brace fabricated parts in position within a ship’s hull for welding.
• Perform outfitting work.
• Burn and bevel metal with a hand torch.
• Read blueprints to lay out and fabricate ship parts.
