About The Position

This role involves torch cutting and rigging to remove large components from vessels in a scrap metal recycling environment. The work requires operating oxy-fuel torch cutting equipment and mechanics tools, and may involve working in challenging conditions such as confined spaces, heights, extreme temperatures, and near moving equipment.

Requirements

• Experience with oxy-fuel torch cutting equipment.
• Experience with mechanics tools.
• Ability to work in hot (up to 110 F) and cold (as low as 35 F) weather.
• Ability to work inside enclosed or confined spaces.
• Ability to work from heights.
• Ability to work near moving equipment operations.
• Moderate to heavy physical demand level.
• Repetitive hand motions and gripping.
• Good hearing, vision, touch, smell, and taste.

Responsibilities

• Torch cut outlines of large pieces (e.g., 15x10 ft) from vessels for removal.
• Torch cut rigging points for crane to connect to pieces.
• Rig pieces to be detached from vessels.
• Remove components such as masts, posts, boilers, engines, and hatch covers by torch cutting and rigging.
