About The Position
Hutco Inc. is seeking first-class ship fitters for shipyards located in Port Allen, LA. The role requires shipyard experience and involves primarily repair work on barges and boats. A test will be conducted on-site to assess capabilities. No TWIC card is required for this position. The ship fitter will lay out and fabricate metal structural parts, such as plates, bulkheads, and frames, and brace them in position within the ship's hull for welding.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years experience as a 1st class ship fitter
- Outfitting experience
- Must know Ship terminology
- Must lay out and fabricate parts for ships
- Must be able to burn, wash, and bevel with a hand torch
- Must pass a drug test and physical
- Must be able to work all shifts
Responsibilities
- Lay out and fabricate metal structural parts, such as plates, bulkheads, and frames
- Brace metal structural parts in position within the ship's hull for welding
- Perform repair work on barges and boats
