About The Position
As a Team Lead (Shift Supervisor) at Philz, you’ll supervise daily shift activities and support a dynamic team. You’ll motivate and inspire team members while setting a high standard for customer service and drink quality, and contribute to a welcoming environment. The role includes leading and developing team members, preparing handcrafted drinks alongside Baristas, building relationships with customers and the local community, and supporting store operations and safety programs. Barista experience is not required; Philz will provide training to people with a passion for people and willingness to learn.
Requirements
- Ability to operate a variety of machines, tools, and equipment.
- Visual acuity to make general observations regarding safety and accuracy of work.
- Ability to remain stationary for a minimum of 3 hours.
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, and kneel.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds intermittently and lift 3 pounds to shoulder height repetitively.
- Ability to grasp, finger, and reach.
- Ability to express or exchange information verbally.
- Passion for people and willingness to learn.
Nice To Haves
- Previous supervisory experience in a fast-paced food and beverage environment is preferred.
- Prior barista experience is not required; training is provided.
Responsibilities
- Assign team members to roles based on their strengths and the needs of the shift.
- Handcraft drinks alongside Baristas and model care and skill in drink preparation.
- Build relationships with customers and the local community.
- Assess team members’ performance, including service and drink quality.
- Hold team members accountable for scheduled shifts, ensure called-out shifts are covered, and ensure breaks and lunches are provided.
- Communicate team-member performance to Store Leaders and other Shift Supervisors to support consistency.
- Support promotions and new hires through in-store training.
- Assist the Store Leader with operational and administrative duties.
- Lead implementation and maintenance of Philz safety programs.
