About The Position

The Environmental Services Shift Supervisor directly oversees assigned Environmental Services staff to ensure assigned areas are cleaned and maintained according to quality and safety standards. The supervisor is responsible for equipment care, supply control, employee counseling, and staffing decisions for the assigned shift to ensure adequate coverage. The role also supports timely patient flow by monitoring bed turnaround times and coordinating with bed management programs.

Requirements

• At least one year of previous Environmental Services and/or healthcare experience.
• Valid driver’s license and adherence to Piedmont’s Healthcare Vehicle Safety Program Policy 3500.

Nice To Haves

• Previous supervisory experience; equivalent education may be substituted for experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree.
• Registered/Certified Executive Housekeeper (REH/CEH) certification.
• Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) certification.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise assigned teams, complete performance reviews on time, and administer corrective action under the direction of Environmental Services supervisors and manager.
• Perform autonomous inspections and patient interviews daily and weekly, and administrative inspections weekly.
• Understand Bed Management programs and monitor bed turnaround times to facilitate timely patient flow through the hospital.
• Ensure equipment and supplies are available and in working order; troubleshoot equipment problems and maintain working knowledge of equipment used in the Environmental Services Department.
• Review schedules and sign-in sheets for daily changes and call-ins to allocate staffing resources effectively.
• Conduct daily shift huddles or meetings to inform employees of existing problems and changes.
• Attend in-services and training programs and share the information with others in the Environmental Services Department.
• Compile maintenance work orders for daily reporting to Engineering.
