About The Position

The Shift Manager Facilities is responsible for ensuring all work order requests related to mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and other assigned areas are completed properly and timely to meet safety and service standards during their assigned shift. This role promotes and enforces safety practices, oversees recruitment, hiring, training, recognition, coaching, and counseling within the department. The Shift Manager also ensures performance reviews are completed annually, prepares progress reports for senior management, and is responsible for the security of all keys. They respond to emergencies, provide expertise, and direct team members and resources. Additionally, the role is responsible for the quality and consistent presentation of all products delivered to guests, assists in training and supervising staff, implements new best practices, maintains knowledge of all property facilities, schedules the department, enforces attendance policies, and ensures work is performed with care to prevent damage. The Shift Manager also performs other assigned tasks.

Requirements

• Advanced knowledge of field concepts, principles, practices and procedures
• Significant experience creating, tracking and controlling financial metrics
• Strong supervisory and communication skills
• Must have working ability with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
• Familiarity w/ building systems, HVAC, Plumbing, Kitchen Mechanics, etc.
• Must be 21 years or older
• BA/BS in related field and/or a combination of relevant experience
• Five (5) years of relevant experience with a minimum of two (2) years managing and directing a Facilities Team for a high volume, luxury complex resort/casino
• Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate license through the New York State Gaming Commission
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, such as policy and procedure manuals and other related documents.
• Ability to respond to common inquiries from other Team Members or guests.
• Fluency in English required.
• Ability to write detailed instructions and correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
• Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations.
• Ability to decipher various reports and maintains reports upon request.
• Regularly required to talk or hear.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls.
• Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, and to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, stretch, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Moderate physical ability such as lift or maneuver at least fifty (50) pounds, and prolonged sitting during the shift.
• Must be able to handle intoxicated guests in a professional manner.
• Team Members must be able to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the property.

Nice To Haves

• The noise level in the work environment varies. When on the casino floor, the noise level increases to loud. When on the casino floor or other designated areas may be subjected to tobacco smoke.

Responsibilities

• Promotes and enforces safety practices and procedures within the department.
• Ensures effective recruitment, hiring, training, recognition, coaching, counseling and other personnel related matters are being handled appropriately throughout the departments.
• Facilitates and ensures that performance reviews of all employees within department are complete on a yearly basis.
• Prepares reports of department progress or as required by senior management.
• Responsible for the security of all keys issued, key in inventory, keys destroyed, and keys turned in by other employees during assigned shift.
• Responds to all emergencies per established procedures, provide expertise, directs team members and resources in the event of an emergency during assigned shift.
• Responsible for quality consistent presentation of all products delivered to guest.
• Assists in training, motivating and supervises staff to ensure that employees receive adequate guidance and resources to accomplish established job requirements.
• Implementation of new or improved best practices or procedures.
• Maintain ongoing knowledge of all aspects of the facilities on property.
• Schedules of department and enforces attendance policies.
• Ensures that all work is done with care and no damage occurs.
• Performs other tasks as assigned.
