About The Position

This role plays a pivotal function as the Chief Hurdle Remover for off-shift (2nd and 3rd shift) packaging and/or manufacturing teams, ensuring seamless operations by addressing challenges promptly. Additionally, this position serves as the key escalation point for quality, safety, and efficiency matters on the assigned shift. This role collaborates closely with all support functions to maintain operations running during the off shift. This role must provide leadership and guidance to the team teams with a culture based on the Bayer DSO principles. The role embraces Dynamic Shared Ownership (DSO) principles and practices and follows the VACC (Visionary Architect, Catalyst, and Coach) approach to leadership (being a visionary, architect, catalyst, and coach). The role actively evolves the site operating model and fosters successful adoption of DSO.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire a team, fostering a culture of trust and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Knowledge of GMP
  • Technical aptitude with manufacturing execution, preventative maintenance, mechanical/equipment troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills through job experience or education.
  • SAP, MES and Microsoft Software (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as with teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Any education beyond high school with technical trade, Business, Communications or Science field
  • Supervisory/leadership experience in a government regulated, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) or standard operating procedures (SOP) environment
  • 3+ years related industry experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry or a Food Manufacturing industry

Responsibilities

  • Act as VACC (Visionary, Architect, Coach and Catalyst) Chief Hurdle Remover for off-shift line teams, proactively identifying and eliminating obstacles to ensure smooth operations.
  • Serve as the primary point of escalation for quality, safety, and efficiency issues during off-shifts, demonstrating swift problem-solving skills
  • Redistribute personnel within a focused production area for successful outcomes.
  • Mentor Operators, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Foster culture of transparency of priorities and metrics empowering every team and employee to take accountability to operate as high performing teams. Foster a collaborative and positive work environment where employees feel valued and engaged.
  • Identify upskilling training needs. Assist in training peers with daily operator tasks as Subject Matter Expert (SME) and understand training needs and gaps to recommend future trainings within the department.
  • Provide feedback to cluster Leaders concerning development opportunities of shop-floor teams.
  • Implement and reinforce safety protocols, ensuring a secure working environment for all team members.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, driving initiatives to enhance productivity and quality on off-shifts.
  • Understand and apply daily Operating Systems, PDCA and revamped Problem Solving, and KPIs to facilitate coordination of teams connected to department deliverables.
  • Monitor, track and trend major losses and drive continuous improvement actions and / or process optimization as applicable.
  • Shift Lead will perform role of operations and leader for the shift combined.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to maintain a high standard of operational excellence.
